Kalamata Olives
PDO Kalamata olives are famous for their almond shape, purple-black color (as a result of being naturally ripened on the tree) and their firm flesh which separates easily from the pit having a unique extraordinary taste. They maintain their rich flavor by being fermented with 100% natural ingredients, using only sea salt and water and being packed together with fresh brine, vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.
Kalamata variety is cultivated in Peloponnesus and some areas of the central Greece. The region of Sparta, which is located in the south side of Peloponnesus, is the largest production area of Kalamata olives having excellent growing conditions due to its climate characteristics and its soil rich in minerals. The above ensures a unique taste and texture of the Kalamata olives from this region.
